The NUS Singapore History Prize is awarded to works that enhance public awareness and understanding of Singapore’s rich history. Since its inception in 2014, the NUS Singapore History Prize has honoured some of the best and most outstanding scholarship in the field. Past winners include historian Hidayah Amin for her book Leluhur: The Story Of Kampong Gelam, which focuses on the development of the small urban settlement in the 19th century, and archaeologist John Miksic for his Singapore And The Silk Road Of The Sea, 1300-1800, which synthesises 25 years of archaeological research to reconstruct the 14th-century port city.
The 2019 NUS Singapore History Prize will be announced in early May at a media event. This year’s shortlist includes works ranging from novels and memoirs to academic essays and historical research. They shed light on the evolution of Singapore’s cultural, social and economic landscape in the 20th and 21st centuries, while highlighting key milestones and turning points in the nation’s journey towards becoming a global powerhouse.

Hamilton’s success shook up the title race, with Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel slipping to second as his teammate Nico Rosberg suffered a technical issue and dropped down the standings.
Launched in 1968, TOTO was Singapore’s first lottery game and its name is derived from the combination of ‘Totalisator’ and ‘Lotto’. Since its inception, the game has undergone several revisions. In 1981, it was tweaked to introduce the System Entry option that would allow the top prize amount to snowball if there are no winners, and in 1997, the format of the game was changed from a ‘5-out-of-49’ to a ‘6-out-of-42’ format with an assured prize pool of $300,000.
TOTO’s popularity has grown significantly over the years. Today, it has over 1.3 million members and is the largest lottery game in Asia. Besides the top prize, there are several other categories where players can win cash prizes from as low as $80. The TOTO website offers a wide range of games and features an exclusive online betting portal, where members can play TOTO games anytime, anywhere. The site also offers the latest news and promotions, as well as a variety of other services for its customers.
