A man who was cheated in a claw machine arcade is demanding HK$1 million in compensation. The incident occurred when the man inserted a HK$100 bill into the machine to break it into HK$5 coins, but received only one coin. He asked for a refund but the machine operator refused, saying it would incur operating costs if he was allowed to receive cash. The man is now seeking legal action.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon, the title sponsor has increased the prize money for local runners competing in the marathon challenge category. Under the ‘Special Incentive Award for Marathon’, permanent residents who finish the marathon in less than 3 hours for men and 3 hours 30 minutes for women will receive an extra HK$10,000 each.
The annual Hong Kong Mathematics Awards (“HLMA”) ceremony was held recently, marking the 20th anniversary of HLMA. The HKMA Awards Committee and sponsors were pleased to announce the Gold, Silver and Bronze winners. The HKMA is committed to encouraging young students to pursue excellence in mathematics and to promote STEAM education.
During the event, Mr Adriel CHAN, Vice Chairman of Hang Lung Properties, moderated a stimulating Fireside Chat featuring two HLMA Past Winners – Dr. Owen H KO, 2004 HLMA winner and Assistant Dean (Research) of the Faculty of Medicine at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Ms. Ewina PUN, 2012 HLMA winner and PhD candidate at Brown University. They shared their personal journeys and provided distinctive perspectives on the transformative power of mathematics.
A total of 88 local and overseas artists and groups have been awarded prizes in the 19th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards. Besides honouring veteran arts practitioners, the awards scheme also rewards young up-and-coming talents and encourages active community participation in supporting the local arts.
